ON THE LIMIT for iPhone · Last updated: 26 October 2026
In short: ON THE LIMIT works on your phone. Your location and your zone reports never leave it. We have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The only personal data we receive is what you send us yourself by email.
Who we are
The app is made by SIA THIS IS THE NEW NORMAL (registration number 50203461611, Viestura iela 14, Cēsis, LV-4101, Latvia), the controller of personal data described here. Contact: [email protected].
Location
When you press START, the app uses your phone's location, including in the background, to notice average-speed zones and to calculate your average speed in them. If you allow "Always", iOS can also wake the app near a zone.
Location is processed only on your phone. It isn't sent to us or to anyone else. Far from any zone the app asks iOS for low accuracy only, to save battery. You can stop tracking with STOP, or turn off location access at any time in Settings › Apps › ON THE LIMIT › Location.
Zone reports
For every zone you drive through, the app saves a report on your phone: time, average and 5-second speeds, distance and the route inside the zone. Reports are stored only in the app's storage on your device. You can delete them in the Reports tab, and they're all removed when you delete the app. If you use iCloud Backup, they're included in your phone's backup under Apple's terms. We can't see them.
Settings
Your choices, such as when to be warned, are stored on your phone only.
Notifications and Live Activities
Zone warnings and results are created on your phone. We don't use push notification servers.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions and free trials are sold and processed by Apple. We never receive your name, payment details or Apple Account details. Apple gives us sales reports that don't identify you. The app checks your subscription status with Apple on your phone. Apple's handling of your data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Support emails
If you contact us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. When you write from the app, the email also includes the app version, iOS version and phone model, which you can see and remove before sending. We use this only to answer you and fix problems (legal basis: our legitimate interest in providing support, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). We keep support emails for up to 2 years after the conversation ends, then delete them. Our email is hosted by Google Workspace, which processes it on our behalf.
What we don't do
- No user accounts.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs in the app.
- No sale or sharing of personal data.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you (in practice, your support emails), to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive a copy. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Latvian Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija, dvi.gov.lv) or the authority in your country.
Children
The app is meant for drivers and isn't directed at children.
